Teresa Lewis, Director

Teresa Lewis is a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Snr. Accred) and a member of the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA). With nearly 30 years of experience in counselling and psychotherapy, Teresa has been providing support since she qualified in 1995. She has completed over 30,000 therapy sessions, effectively addressing a wide range of issues, from anxiety to trauma.

Holding a master’s degree in counselling and psychotherapy, Teresa is also a qualified EMDR practitioner, accredited mindfulness teacher, and qualified adult educator. Her integrative approach to psychotherapy is rooted in evidence-based practices, focusing particularly on Transactional Analysis (TA), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt Psychotherapy, and Chairwork. Teresa is especially interested in exploring the various parts of the self, a concept central to Internal Family Systems therapy. This approach allows clients to identify and engage with different aspects of their personality—often referred to as “parts”—which can include inner critics, vulnerable child parts, and protective personas. By understanding these parts, clients can gain insight into their emotional responses, improve self-compassion, and foster healthier internal dialogues. This process not only aids in resolving internal conflicts but also supports clients in integrating these parts into a cohesive sense of self.

Teresa has the privilege of working with a diverse clientele, including business leaders, entrepreneurs, military personnel, professional athletes, and celebrities. Her work is characterised by a commitment to helping clients navigate their unique challenges and achieve personal growth.

In addition to her clinical practice, Teresa offers online psychology training programmes utilised internationally by organisations such as the United States Department of Defence Leadership Program, The Open University, and various universities across the UK, USA, Canada, Malaysia, and South Africa. A selection of her training sessions is available on YouTube.

As a founding member of the BACP’s coaching division, Teresa has achieved full registration status with the esteemed Association for Coaching (MAC). She is passionate about leadership development and employs her master’s degree in psychotherapy, along with her qualifications in training and coaching, to deliver an evidence-based psychological approach to coaching. Her methods are grounded in established theories of adult learning, cutting-edge neuroscience, and positive psychology.

As the founder and co-director of Lewis Psychology, Teresa combines extensive executive management experience with a successful background at senior command level. A motivational and inspirational leader, she excels at coaching and empowering individuals to reach their potential while contributing positively to organisational objectives. Teresa brings a powerful blend of business acumen and psychological insight to facilitate transformational change for her clients.
